Keep Judge Rudd
Thank you for your support, Bernalillo County! On Tuesday, March 21, 2006, filing day, no one in the Democratic or Republican party filed to run against Judge Rudd in the 2006 election. If Judge Rudd receives at least one vote in the 2006 primary and general elections, she will be elected to serve her final four-year term from 2007 through 2010 and will then be "termed out." County officials, such as probate judges, are limited to two consecutive four-year terms according to New Mexico's constitution.
During Judge Rudd's first term, she has increased the court’s caseload more than 70%, started a major computer automation of the court’s docket system, proved her commitment to public awareness and outreach through her “Judge is In” TV show, Albuquerque Journal column, and numerous speaking engagements. She has served our community with integrity, dedication, and hard work and will continue to do so in her final term.

The probate judge admits wills to informal probate and oversees the appointment of personal representatives to distribute the assets of deceased people. The Probate Court has limited jurisdiction over probate matters and cannot hear contested cases. The New Mexico Supreme Court approved do-it-yourself (pro se) probate forms for public use. The Probate Court offers several brochures and other community outreach programs to help people file probate cases without the help of an attorney.
